Frequently Asked Questions
How do I pay for my treatment or training session?
All bookings are made and paid for online. We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), PayPal and Apple Pay.
I have a pain / injury - what therapy should I book?
If you are experiencing sharp pain or injury and want a diagnostic approach in addition to manipulative treatment then booking with one of our osteopaths would be most appropriate to start. If you are confident you just have some adverse muscle tension but no specific injury trapped nerves or joints out of place then book in with one of the massage team. If you are looking for exercise advise just to get in shape then book one our our personal training packages.
Do I need to provide anything?
If you are booking a hands on treatment such as massage, your therapist will bring all the necessary equipment with them such as oils and a treatment couch (although you are welcome to provide your own treatment couch if you have one). We do ask that clients provide at least TWO TOWELS for any massage treatments, together with one ONE LOOSE FITTING BED SHEET to to lay on.
Similarly if you are receiving a personal training session your trainer will bring relevant equipment with them such as resistance bands, light dumbbells etc. However if your have your own exercise equipment on site your trainer may want to incorporate such equipment (provided your agree to this). We recommend you have a least ONE TOWEL with you and an adequate volume of fluids your are able to drink during the session.
Can I extend the appointment after it's started?
This may or may not be possible and will be at the therapists discretion depending whether or not they have another appointment schedule straight after you. If they are able to extend your session an additional fee we will charged equivalent to the additional cost of the session + £10, for example if you booked and paid for a 60 minute "Deep Tissue Massage" online but want to extend it to 90 mins at the time of the treatment, you must pay the therapist an additional £30 (this consists of £20 for the difference between the list price of a 60 min massage (£48) and a 90 min massage (£68) + a £10 extended treatment fee).
Should I tip my massage therapist?
There is no service charge (tip) applied to the cost of our services when booking online. If you want to show your appreciation to your therapist / trainer by giving them a tip your are welcome to do so (we would recommend paying any tips in cash) but you under no obligation to do so.
What happens if I want to cancel or change my appointment?
We will refund in full any appointments cancelled or change provided at least 24 hours notice is given before the scheduled appointment time. Appointments changed or cancelled with less than 24 hours but more than 4 hours notice will received 50% refund. Appointments changed or cancelled with less than 4 hours notice but more than 2 hours notice will received 75% refund. Appointments changed or cancelled with less than 2 hours notice will not be refunded.
Will my therapist be employed by Home Visit Therapies or an independent self employed practitioner?
All the practitioners featured on work as independent self employed practitioners. We recruit, vet and in many cases provide on-going training to the featured therapists so that you be can assured of high standards of training and appropriate insurance, however your contract remains with the self employed therapist. Any treatment related queries should be directed to your therapist. With regards to payment for online bookings, Home Visit Therapies functions as an agent and retains an "agents fee" for all payments made via the website.
Service Etiquette and what to expect during and after your appointment?
NB: All professional services advertised by Home Visit Therapies are entirely therapeutic and non-sexual. Any inappropriate comments or advances will not be tolerated and may be prosecuted.
On arrival please show your therapist to an appropriate place where they you would like them to conduct their treatment. Before starting you session your therapist will likely ask you a few simple questions about your general health, wellbeing, injuries and past medical history, this is especially important if it is your first appointment with them.
If your are receiving a manual therapy to your back, torso or body your therapist will ask your partial undress in order to be able to put their hands on the relevant body part. If appropriate they will leave the room as you undress and lie under a towel.
Please note that deep massage (and manipulation) may induce (increased) post treatment soreness, this usually resolves within 48 hours.
At the end of the appointment if you need to get dressed the therapist will leave the room for around five minutes before re-entering to gain any feedback which may be noted against your clinical notes and account.
If you are suffering from a specific injury, preparing for an event or training for a specific goal your therapist will be able to advise regarding the number and frequency of any follow sessions. In the absence of these specific situations many of our clients seek regular treatment to help maintain a state of physical and mental balance for which we recommend a manual therapy session once every two to four weeks.
Can I rebook directly with the therapist / trainer?
All home (or work) visit bookings must be made via the Home Visit Therapies website.
